Strut Your Mutt: A Celebration of Four-Legged Friends

Strut Your Mutt is more than just a walk in the park. This fundraising event brings together passionate pet owners and their four-legged friends for a day of fun, frolic, and unity. Participants enjoy a leisurely walk with their pets, usually spanning a few miles, amidst a carnival-like atmosphere. In addition to the walk, the event often includes various fun activities like doggie yoga, agility courses, and photo booths, providing ample opportunities for pets and their owners to interact, play, and even showcase their unique talents.

What makes Strut Your Mutt particularly special is its noble cause. Participants raise funds that directly benefit homeless pets. Each individual or team can choose a specific animal welfare group to support, ensuring that the funds raised go directly to help the animals in need. The event has witnessed a phenomenal impact over the years, raising millions of dollars, which have been instrumental in saving countless animal lives.

Behind Strut Your Mutt is the Best Friends Animal Society, a leading national animal welfare organization committed to ending the killing of cats and dogs in America’s shelters. Founded in the 1980s, this society is driven by the belief that every animal deserves a loving home and that we, as a society, can and should make that a reality.

Located in the majestic Angel Canyon in Kanab, Utah, the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is the heart of the society’s operations. Spread over nearly 3,700 acres, this sanctuary is home to about 1,600 animals on any given day. These animals, which include cats, dogs, birds, rabbits, and even horses, often come from traumatic backgrounds, facing challenges like abuse, medical issues, or behavioral problems. At the sanctuary, they receive the love, care, and rehabilitation they need, all with the ultimate goal of finding them forever homes.

Best Friends Animal Society extends its influence far beyond the boundaries of the sanctuary. The organization partners with shelters, rescue groups, and other animal welfare organizations across the country to help them achieve the same goals. Their initiatives are diverse, ranging from spay/neuter programs to adoption promotions and advocacy work. One of their most ambitious targets is their “Save Them All” call to action, which aims to bring the entire nation to a no-kill status by 2025.
